Look Good, Do Good
Certain places hold precious memories. Picture the beach where he popped the question, the town where you grew up, the mountain you found the strength to climb. Now imagine you could forever hold a piece of that place, not just in your heart and mind, but in beautiful, meaningful jewelry. That’s the very cool concept of Earth Bands.
Earth Bands are bracelets and anklets crafted from woven hemp rope adorned with hand rolled beads that are made from the sand or soil of a specific location. Each carries a colorful tag indicating the bead’s origin. These unique pieces of jewelry have an earthy, cool, laid-back vibe making them great for the everyday casual world we live in.
The company has grown to include bands from almost every state, popular beaches, colleges and lots more. Each band is meant to create a meaningful memento for the person wearing it, honoring special times spent in special places. Earth Bands also honors the planet by giving back to charities that work to protect earth: Rainforest Action Network, Protect Our Winters Charity, and Sea Shepherd Conservation Society.

Earth Bands – Beautiful Bracelets Straight From Mother Earth!
Who doesn’t love bracelets? What makes them even better? When they are handmade from our beautiful Mother Earth. As a matter of fact, if you have a specific location in mind, these make wonderful gifts. For example, if your first kiss was in a certain place or state, you could get a bracelet made from those locations’ Earth and sand! What is this great company? Earth Bands -they make amazing, unique bracelets and anklets that really are stunning.
Yes, every piece of every bracelet is made from Mother Earth. The bands are made from woven hemp rope and the hand rolled beads are from the sand or soil of a specific location! Each piece of jewelry has a bohemian look or even a little “hippie”, which is a compliment. However, that is just my opinion. I love the simplistic look of them and yet, they are also feminine and dainty.
Just as Earth Bands’ website says “Every bead tells your story”. I can’t think of a better way of explaining what Earth Bands are all about. What a perfect gift for any celebration that you have coming up. The holidays would make a great time to begin collecting your Earth Bands Bracelets. Bet you can’t buy just one, especially because buying them supports these special causes: Rainforest Action Network, Protect Our Winters Charity, and Sea Shepard Conservation Society. So you can do good while looking good! Helping others has never been so darn easy.
Great For Teens
Teens love stacking their bracelets and these look beautiful alone or together! Imagine buying your loved one a couple (if not more) and making them a stocking stuffer. Each one will tell your lovely story or at least be a conversation starter. Teens could also use them to trade with friends or even make as “friendship” bracelets. If someone loves a certain state (like New York), you could get the “I love New York” bracelet for that person.
Not only should you buy Earth Bands to help our big blue marble, but helping causes feels amazing. Oh….and they’re gorgeous to wear!
Earth Bands’ business model includes donations to charities
“Live your life, Love your Earth, We are Earth Bands,” is the motto of the Dunsmuir company Earth Bands, which is increasing in popularity while giving back.
Each Earth Band includes a crafted, hand rolled bead made from the sand or dirt of a specific location, and each piece of jewelry is made entirely with USA products.
Currently, bracelets and anklets are available with talks of necklaces being made in the future.
Along with hiring local residents and using USA products, Earth Bands also donates $1 every time an Earth Band is sold.
These pieces of jewelry function as a token or memento from places that hold special meaning in people’s hearts, such as home towns, places weddings were held, awesome vacations, etc. For this reason, each Earth Band comes with a colorful tag that depicts the bead’s place of origin.
“The power to have a piece of your favorite state, place or college is most exciting,” she said. “People post and share their stories and their bracelets; it is so cool. We love the personal connection they have with their bracelets. And for us that’s most exciting, to give people a more truly meaningful bracelet that brings them happiness and good memories are huge for us.”
Vaughan explained that along with specific beaches, states and other locations like Mount Shasta, Weed, and Columbia River Gorge, Earth Bands has added colleges. They now carry beads from 32 of the 50 United States, 23 beaches, 31 colleges, and other options including festivals and international bracelets.
Vaughan said the newest products Earth Bands is most eager to share are from Sedona, Ariz., Eugene, Ore., and the northern Dakota White Buffalo.
She said the Pacific Northwest Sasquatch bracelet is a “fan favorite.”
With the purchase of every bracelet, customers may select from three different charities to have $1 donated by Earth Bands.
“We love the earth and environmental causes and awareness,” Vaughn said. “These three charities cover all three aspects of the environment: air, water and earth. We also have personal connections to Protect our Winters & Sea Shepherd, and the Rainforest Action Network is always so grateful when we are able to contribute!”
Protect our Winters also known as POW, is an organization focused on mobilizing educational initiatives and community-based activism in support of positive climate action. The organization was founded by professional athlete Jeremy Jones, who felt like winter climates were decreasing across the globe.
Sea Sheppard is an organization that strives to maintain marine biodiversity through direct action to defend marine wildlife and protect the marine habitat across the world’s oceans.
Based in San Francisco, Rainforest Action Network protects the forest and upholds human rights through challenging corporate power.
Along with helping the planet, Vaughan said she feels fortunate to be doing something fun and inspiring while living in Siskiyou County, which she considers to be one of the coolest places on Earth.
She said Earth Bands has enjoyed a steady following in its three-plus years. She believes her commitment to sustainable materials and supporting the local economy has helped the company grow.
“We were a just a great idea, then we moved to business plan with seed money investors for R&D for bracelet design and a simple website with 20 bracelets. Now we are a brand with a meaning and message with over 150 bracelets, 12,000 followers on Instagram, New College License Sports bracelets, we are now with Amazon Prime and Fanatics Licensed Sports, and we’re in over 60 retail stores nationwide,” Vaughan said.
She believes the company will continue to grow and that Dunsmuir is a wonderful location to house the business. Overall, she wants local community members to understand Earth Band’s mission, which is a cyclical.
“I have believed in Earth Bands’ potential since the day my brother, Mark, came to me with the idea... Our bracelets are a special kind of gift that also supports others, not only for those that purchase them, but for those who make our bracelets, the USA suppliers we buy our product from, and the causes we support,” Vaughn said. “To be a part of a full circle product with the power to impact and enhance people lives, while contributing to environmental issues was always our mission. From the very beginning, it was the team’s vision to hit all these specific marks and I am truly blessed to be a part of the Earth Bands Adventure.”
Vaughan makes custom Earth Bands for resorts, events, and businesses. For custom or wholesale inquiries about Earth Bands, see the website: www.EarthBands.co.
This past month Earth Bands welcomed our newest staff member! It's me! Hi everyone, my name is Lex and I am so thrilled to be on this team. Earth Bands is a company I Love dearly and our mission is something that resonates with me on a deep level. I will be running the social media and brand ambassador programs for the company as well as online marketing analysis, which is all just a really fancy way of saying I do the internet stuff. But a little bit of background for you; I'm a 22 year old nurse living in-between Seattle and Denver. I also dabble in both modeling and photography/videography and have been creating since the age of 14. My life goal is to work in health care in developing countries and one day start an organization to help create access for nurses to go abroad and experience medical work in different communities and cultures.
Passion is such an important driving factor in life, and it is one of the core things that drove me to Earth Bands. Sandra is a firecracker, she has so much passion and is so righteous. Her commitment to the environment and using her product to reinforce important values is what drew me to the company. I have been following Protect Our Winters and known about the work of the Sea Shepard for years, and knowing we donate to these organizations (as well as the incredible Rainforest Action Network) with every purchase is something I take immense pride in. It feels so good to know that the values I hold dear are represented in the company I work for. Not many people can truly say that.
The future is bright for Earth Bands. With new products dropping all the time and an entire new product line coming out- our next few months are going to be chalk full with announcements. Keep up with us- and me!- on our instagram @Earth.Bands, Holonis @earthbands, and facebook page. Thanks for reading, much love!

Think Big -- Shop Small
Although we look like a corporate behemoth ;) the truth is we are just a small business looking to make a difference. We hope everyone shops small today -- and does their part to support the "little guy". Happy Small Business Saturday!
"The devil is in the details." It was this timeless idiom that inspired us to add some special details to the latest Earth Bands (v2.1). With the recent addition of the aluminum tension tube (making each bracelet adjustable + removable) we felt there was still something missing. . .
So, we went back to the laboratory and began exploring possible solutions. We played with laser etching, painting, die-casting and eventually fell in love with metal stamping. This tried and true technique has been used in jewelry making for years -- producing great results.
The process involves each tension tube getting inserted (or slipped over) a metal rod with the same inside diameter as the tube. We then go along the rod with a stamp and hammer & "pop" the impression into the tube -- <3 heart on one side -- USA on the other. The finishing touch comes when we color the impression to compliment the fabric tag and bead. These new details create that special touch we were looking for. Enjoy! :)
Lab coats and late nights have been the norm here at Earth Bands headquarters. We've been working hard over the last couple of weeks experimenting and developing the second generation of Earth Bands. Our faithful wearers have shared some great feedback and suggestions with us, and we've been listening :)
The most frequently shared suggestion was: "It would be great if they were removable." So, making the second generation Earth Bands removable has been our mission -- and we have succeeded!
We have developed a (soon to be revealed) solution that works via a "tension tube".
The two ends of the hemp cord are threaded through the slightly smaller tube and knotted off. With this -- the wearer can pull the two knots apart or away from each other (tighten) or slide the knots together (loosen) the bracelet to be removed from the wrist. With that -- we have created an one size fits all solution that looks great and works nicely thanks to good ol' Mr. Friction ;)
Only 3 days away. . .
It's been a busy couple of weeks in the Earth Bands manufacturing department preparing for the 36th Annual Bridge Day in Fayetteville West Virginia. This will be our fist year at the event with an expected 100,000 people attending on Saturday. Stop by our booth and say hi -- and checkout the West Virginia Earth Band :)
